Poker is a world famous card game and includes many branches. The game includes betting and hand ranking. The basic standards of the game are the same but there are various factors that are played differently hence creating the different families of poker. The different factors that determine this are the number of hands that can be made, the number of rounds of bets, the maximum limit of the amount that can be bet, the number of cards that are dealt out right at the beginning and even the fact whether it is the highest hand ranker or the one who holds the lowest rank who will win the round. These are the basic differences between the families of Poker.

Though there are so many branches, there are three main ones that can be hand picked for their difference. These branches also have many types of poker hidden in the. Here is information on these different types of poker and how they are played
1. Straight: This game has evolved from a game called Primero. This is supposed to be the oldest type of poker played. Primero slowly changed into a game called Three card brag which was very popular initially in America and is still popular with the English. In this game a full hand is given out to each of the players. The players have to bet in the first round. During this time they have to match or raise the previous bet.
2. Stud and seven card stud: Poker had initially began with three cards in the hand and it was with this family that poker began being played with five at first and later sever cards in the hand. the 5 cards were called stud and the seven cards were called seven card stud. the cards are put out with one card facing down and one card facing up and the round of betting is initiated. These are given out one by one and not all at the same time. In the seven card stud, a participant can attempt to see if they can change the hand they have played.
3. Community: This is an extension of the stud family. The players are given out cards with not complete hand of cards that face downwards. After this there are a number of cards that are placed in the centre of the table with their face up. These cards that are placed here can be used by any player to make a complete 5 hand. This family has a very famous game to its name. The name of that game is Texas hold ‘em.
4. Draw: Each player is given all the cards, all the cards are placed with their faces downwards. The player have to bet and once they are done doing so, they can try to change their hand if there is a chance of improving it. this can be done by throwing away the cards that wont help and being given new cards.
