Poker may be the most widely known series of card games ever. This game has come a long way since it had started off being played only with three cards, later was played with five and much later even evolved in to a game played with seven cards. Normally though most of the families of Poker just use five cards to play the game. Many people think that Poker is only one game and is a generic term. However, the fact is that it is that Poker is actually a whole family of card games. Most of the games are based on different rules which is what differentiates them. The standard rules are the same though. The game basically includes betting and hand ranking. The winning depends on these different rules.
If you are playing poker with your friends the person who gets to deal is chosen by a disc called the dealer button. This is the way only the first person who has to deal is chosen, hence forth the chance to deal rotates among the players; On the other hand if you would be playing in a casino a professional deals out cards for every hand. However the disc or the dealer button is placed in the centre of the table and that nominates an acting dealer. this helps define the line up for betting.
In most games the first player or more than one players are bulldozed to bet, usually they would have to bet either an ante or a blind and in rare cases both. When the dealer shuffles the cards, he offers the cards to the person on his right to cut, and deals the correct number of cards to all the players depending on the game they maybe playing. The dealer has to be very knowledgeable about the type of the game being played so that he deals out the cards properly and according to the rules. He has to know whether the cards need to be dealt face up or face down or whether each player has to be dealt once or one by one etc.,
Once the cards are given out, the first round of betting starts. The betting has to be matched or raised in comparison to the previous participant. There maybe several betting rounds after this. During these rounds of bets, the hands of the various players gets better by adding additional cards to it and doing away with the ones useless. Once the round comes to an end with all the bets, the “pot” is gathered at the centre of the table. During the time when the betting is going on, if theres only one player who chooses to bet and the others choose to fold (that is are not able to match up to the bet), then the one that bet, wins the round. When this happens no one needs to show their cards.
Bluffing is an integral part of the game. At the very end, if there are two or more people left, they have to layout their cards and the one with the highest or lowest ranking will be the winner.
